2018 Harvest 9

Hot damn!! It's getting toasty out here folks. We hope you all have been able to stay cool and relatively comfortable in the heat. As for things up here, it's been hard keeping up with irrigation but thankfully things are still managing to get wet and most of the crops are looking good despite triple digits.

This week we're happy to have carrots back in the mix along with some really delicious Walla Walla Sweet onions. The onions haven't been cured so keep them in the fridge and use them within the next couple of weeks. Basil should be popping up in your shares next week which is always exciting (at least for us--we love cucumbers!) The tomatoes are looking good and we've managed to eat a few ripe cherry tomatoes but they're still a ways out before we've got enough for CSA. However, we assure you they're coming along!

On a separate note, we want folks to mark your calendars for our 6th annual "Rock the Harvest" party on Saturday August 25th starting at 4:30pm. The Greenneck Daredevils will be playing again and we'll have plenty beer on tap along with canned wine from our buddies over at Union Wine Co. We encourage folks to bring along your own picnic dinner and even make a night out of it and camp nearby or stay at one of the many rad hotels in the area. It's one of our favorite summer traditions to have you all out to the farm and we hope you can join us for another great party to celebrate the farm season!

Alright, we hope you enjoy this weeks harvest. Happy cooking everyone.

Your farmers,
A & T

2018 Harvest 8

Howdy folks and welcome to harvest week 8. We hope you had a wonderful 4th of July holiday and hopefully got to grill up some of the bounty with your family and friends. This coming week we've got more delicious veggies heading your way and we're excited to share more of the early summer flavors with you. Up first--we cannot be more thrilled with how the garlic performed this year. The heads are large, the flavor is pungent, and it's hands down the best harvest we've had in the 6 years that we've been growing it in Oregon.

Things are getting toasty out in the field which means some things will be happier than others. We're continuing to move irrigation around all day long which is a part time job in of itself. Luckily, we installed a pump in the early spring and the pressure is freaking amazing!

Fingers are crossed that carrots will return to the boxes next week and potatoes are not far behind. Cucumbers should be making their seasonal debut in the next couple of weeks too. Enjoy this peas because their season is a short one and it's likely that this may be the last week for them.

Alrighty, that's all the news from the farm. We hope you all have a wonderful week filled with tasty meals and good company to enjoy them with.

Cheers from Tumbleweed!

A & T

Howdy folks and welcome to week 7 of your Tumbleweed Farm share. This week it's a very green box! We're happy to finally be swimming in zucchini and peas. It's been a slow start for the zucchini but but with warmer evening temps things are finally catching up and we will be rocking it for most of the season. This week we've got leeks and dill making their seasonal debut and the collard greens are back (one of my favorite greens!)

Things out in the fields are looking good. We're pulling garlic out of the ground and should have some heads appearing in your box weekly starting very soon. The next round of carrots is slow to size up but we're hoping to get some to you in the next few weeks. Aside from that, there isn't a lot of news to report from the farm (which we count as a blessing!)

We hope you all have a wonderful July 4th and hopefully get to throw some of these veggies on the grill to celebrate.

Cheers to the harvest!

A & T
