Howdy folks and welcome to week 14 of your Tumbleweed Farm CSA. Hot damn!! This is “the summer box.” We are stoked with this week’s harvest and we hope you all are as excited as we are. This has been a busy week of just keeping our heads up and spirits high as we get our butts kicked with so much happening all at once. The farmers market harvest days are getting longer and longer and CSA harvest days are pretty grueling as well. But we are keeping up for the most part and really proud of what is coming out of the ground. The corn is sweet as heck and we eat it straight off the stalk without cooking it. However, you really can’t beat grilled corn on the cob so however you want to prepare it just know it will be delicious.

Harvest 14
Kale—super high in antioxidants, contains vitamin C, Vitamin K, Manganese and various polyphenols.
Carrots—Rich in beta-carotene which your body converts into Vitamin A. This vitamin is important for vision, bone and immune function. Carrots are also high in antioxidants and important minerals for overall body health. Remove the greens on the carrots before storing them so they don’t go soft.
Lettuce Mix—A rich source of vitamins A, K and folate. Also anti- inflammatory!
Cucumber— If you are feeling dehydrated eat a cucumber! Cucumbers are hydrating and contain more than 50 trace minerals. They contain chlorophyll in their skins that’s bonded to B vitamins and vitamins A and C. And cucumbers support digestion and hydration.
Eggplant—Contains moderate levels of vitamins A and C, which help protect your cells against damage. It's also high in natural plant chemicals called polyphenols, which may help cells do a better job of processing sugar and keeping your blood sugar in balance.
Bell Peppers—Bell peppers are very high in vitamin C, with a single one providing up to 169% of the recommended daily value. Other vitamins and minerals in bell peppers include vitamin K1, vitamin E, vitamin A, folate, and potassium.
Full Size Tomatoes—Tomatoes are the major dietary source of the antioxidant lycopene, which has been linked to many health benefits, including reduced risk of heart disease and cancer.

Corn—Fresh sweet corn is chock full of a variety of vitamins, minerals and fiber (both soluble and insoluble fiber)
Cantaloupe—Cantaloupe is an amazing fruit that has over 19 vitamins and minerals that help to boost the immune system, detoxify the organs, and deeply hydrate and alkalinize the body.
Garlic—the list of health benefits is almost too long!! It’s anti-fungal, anti- inflammatory, boosts immune health, and is full of antioxidants! Just eat garlic with every meal!
